April 12, 2024 – Livingston County FIRST® Robotics Challenge (FRC) Team 9455, The DinoMights, won the Rookie All-Star award at the Michigan State Championship Saturday, April 6, 2024. According to FIRST®, the Rookie All-Star Award celebrates a team that “exemplifies a young but strong partnership effort, as well as implementing
the mission of FIRST® to inspire students to learn more about science and technology.”

The judges had this to say about the team: “You may think this team should be extinct, but they are living large. They are already holding Girl Scout workshops, food drives, and helping FLL teams. They also have extensive sponsor recruitment and engagement. For being a new team, their impressive outreach programs really blew the judges away.”

With this award, the team advances to the FRC World Championships in Houston, TX where they will compete with teams from around the world. The DinoMights are a team
from The STEAM Syndicate. The team is composed of 11 students in 8th through 10th grade from Hartland Consolidated Schools. The students are actively engaged in
growing the program and hope to welcome students from other Livingston County Schools next year.
